Freudian Things

Uncooked spaghetti and tools for surveying,
 Pins, guns, and needles and hooks for chrocheting,
  Pencils and crayons and long bits of string:
   These are a few of my Freudian things.

Swimming in pools and spelunking in caverns,
 Bagels and doughnuts and circular patterns,
  Tunnels for trains, and a nice wedding ring:
 These are a few of my Freudian things.

When there's trauma, when there's conflict,
 When hysteria looms,
 I simply remember my Freudian things
And then return to the womb.
